斯密覧書訳文 明治四年第十一月六日琉球ノ島民船舶四艘ニ乗組之那覇ニ往キ帰路颶風ニ逢ニ内一艘ノ乗船ハ難破シテ台湾ノ海辺ニ飄到シ内一艘ハ船頭水吏等小船ニ取乗リテ尽力シテ岸辺至ラシトテニスハ溺死シ六十六石漸ク陸地ニ至ルヲ得ヌリ然カルニ台湾島ノ当地ニ住スル野蕃ニ襲ワレ衣服ヲ制レ船ヨリ持来リシ諸品モ皆其多ニ掠奪セラレ終五十四名者共殺害セラレ生残リルハ僅ニ十二名ノミ此難ヲ逃レテ島中卑低地ニ住セル支那人ノ部落ニ逃入リ台湾府ノ地方官ヨリ衣食ヲ給セラレ福州ヘ送ラレタリ 此タメニ福建ノ官員事情ヲ北京政府ニ告ケ其比天津在勤ノ我カ代理公使抒原ヨリ此一件ヲ副島外務卿ニ申シ越タリ 明治五年六月十五日右ノ顛未ヲ以テ琉球ノ貴
