University of the Ryukyus Library
- Title
- University of the Ryukyus Library
- Contents
- Ever since it first opened its doors 1950, the University of the Ryukyus Library has made serious, sustained efforts to collect materials related to Okinawa. The library has also been directing energies toward digital archiving so that more and more people can use the materials. The library also has two special collections open to the public: the Miyara Dunchi/Dounchi Collection in Yaeyama, which includes administrative records, and the Yanaihara Tadao Collection, comprising materials related to former Japanese colonies mainly in the South Pacific islands. Two further collections of materials from the premodern era—the Iha Fuyu Collection and the Sakamaki/Hawley Collection (held by the University of Hawaii)—are also accessible through the Library’s web digital archives.
