- 第二章 有線電信 第一節 開戦前ヨリ旅順陥落ニ至ル期間ニ於ル電信線路ノ施設 第一目 佐世保八口浦間及ヒ厳原馬山浦間ノ敷設 明治三十六年十二月、日露両国間ノ交渉、益々危機ニ切迫スルヤ、海軍々令部ハ、逓信省ト内議シ、佐世保ヨリ鎮海湾及ヒ八口浦ノ両地ニ至ル海底電線ヲ敷設センカ為メ、当時横浜ニ碇泊中ナル逓信省海底電線敷設船沖縄丸ヲシテ、急速長崎ニ回航セシムルコトトナシ、同船ハ奄美大島、徳ノ島間及ヒ馬関海峡ノ海底電線修理ノ名義ヲ以テ、同三十日横浜港ヲ抜錨シ、三十七年一月二日長崎ニ着シ、竊ニ佐世保、八口浦間海底電線敷設ノ準備ニ着手ス、 同四日、山本海軍大臣ハ、大浦逓信大臣ニ左ノ照会ヲ為ス、 時局ノ趨勢ニ鑑ミルニ九州及ヒ対馬島ト韓国トノ間ニ
