Explanation
Born 1848 (Koka 3). From Fukui Domain. Father was domain's chief counselor Koma Yamashiro. 1864 (Genji 1): Served during the bakufu's first Choshu Expedition. 1865 (Keio 1): Hoheitai (assistant platoon leader). 1866 (Keio 2): Choren-kakari (drill master). 1868: Traveled to Britain for study, learned about mine engineering. 1869: Status changed to that of government-funded student abroad. 1872: Joined up with the Iwakura Mission to attend the Ministry of Finance councilor, and embarked on inspections of mines. 1873: Returned to Japan and appointed 7th grade official in the Ministry of Industry. 1874: 6th grade official, Mining Academy. Dispatched to Kama'ishi to develop mines. 1877: Junior Technical Superintendent, Ministry of Industry. 1879: Junior Technical Superintendent. 1883: Officer (Kokoroe), Sado Mining Bureau. 1884: Retained post with no duties. 1888: Retired. 1911: Passed away.
