Explanation: Born 1840 (Tenpo 11). From Choshu Domain. 1871: Appointed 7th grade official at the Sei'in (Central Board). 1872: Appointed 7th grade official at the Bureau of Taxation. Later met up with the Iwakura Mission attending the Ministry of Finance councilor. 1874: Returned to Japan, appointed deputy assistant (gon-suke) for taxation. 1877: Secretary, Ministry of Finance; Chief Customs Inspector, Kobe Customs Office; and Chief Customs Inspector, Osaka Customs Office. 1880: Deputy Chief Secretary, Ministry of Finance. 1881: 2nd class Inspector, Board of Audit. 1883: Director, Examiner 1st Division. 1884: Concurrent appointments first as Commissioner (Goyogakari) and then as Director, Pension Bureau. 1886: Passed away. Father of Nagaoka Harukazu.
