Tokonami Takejiro

Explanation
Born December 1866. From Kagoshima Prefecture. 1890: Graduated from the College of Law, Tokyo Imperial University, and received probationary appointment to the Ministry of Finance. Subsequently served as Secretary, Ministry of Finance; Chief for Tax Collection, Ehime Prefecture; Secretary, Yamagata Prefecture; and Secretary, Niigata Prefecture. Later served as governor of Tokushima and then Akita prefectures. 1906: Director, Local Affairs Bureau, Home Ministry. April to June, 1908: Director, Karafuto Agency. 1911: Served as Vice Home Minister in the Second Saionji Cabinet. 1913: Director of the Railway Bureau in the Yamamoto Cabinet. April 1914: Resigned his position and went into opposition. That May, became Member, House of Representatives. Subsequently, in 1918 served in the Hara Cabinet as both Home Minister and Director, Railway Bureau. 1924: Left the Seiyūkai to help form the Seiyū Hontō. Installed as president, but the party collapsed. 1929: Rejoined the Seiyūkai. 1931: Became Minister of Railways in the Inukai Cabinet. 1934: In a break with party policy, became Communications Minister in the Okada Cabinet. Struck from membership in the Seiyūkai. September 1935: Passed away while serving as Communications Minister.
