Explanation: Born 1877. From Tokyo Prefecture. 1901: Graduated from the Jurisprudence Department (British Law), Tokyo Imperial University. 1902: Passed the Higher Civil Service Examination. That January, received probationary appointment to the Ministry of Justice. April 1904: Transferred to the Ministry of Finance with a probationary appointment. Followed by a series of posts at the ministry's Tobacco Monopoly Bureau including, clerk, secretary, and then councilor. 1906: Appointed Secretary, Kwantung Governor General. Followed by Chief, Secretarial Section, Secretariat; and then concurrent posts as Secretary and Councilor, all at the Kwantung Governor General. After return to Japan, in December 1907 appointed Director, Monopoly Bureau, Ministry of Finance. December 1910: Concurrent appointment as Councilor, Ministry of Finance. 1912: Chief, Accounting Section, Monopoly Bureau, Ministry of Finance. Followed later by Director, Operations Division, Monopoly Bureau, Ministry of Finance. June 7 to June 20, 1918: Acting Director-General, Monopoly Bureau, Ministry of Finance. February 1920: Installed as Director, South Manchurian Railway. After return to Japan, installed as Director, Nippon Kangyō Bank. 1934: Auditor, Far Eastern Condensed Milk Co., Ltd. August 1938: President, Oriental Leaf Tobacco Co., Ltd. Other positions later included Director, Katō Works Co., Ltd.
