Explanation
Born 1893. From Nagasaki Prefecture. July 1918: Graduated from the Jurisprudence Department, College of Law, Tokyo Imperial University, and joined the Home Ministry. Prior to graduation, in October 1915 passed the Higher Civil Service Examination. October 1919: Councilor and also Chief, Agriculture and Forestry Section, Home Department, Nagasaki Prefecture. November 1921: Chief, Educational Affairs Section, Fukuoka Prefecture. August 1922: Appointed Commissioner, Home Ministry, and took up a post in the Ministry's Urban Planning Bureau. October 1923: Chief, General Affairs Section and also of Maintenance and Repairs Section, Construction Bureau, Imperial Capital Restoration Board. February 1924: Chief, General Affairs Section, Construction Department, Imperial Capital Recovery Bureau, Home Ministry. March 1928: Traveled to Rome to participate in the International Copyright Convention. Subsequently visited countries around Europe and South American. April 1929: Chief, Planning Section, Secretariat of the Recovery Bureau Director, Home Ministry. May 1929: Chief, Archives and Documents Section, Secretariat of the Recovery Bureau Director. April 1930: Chief, Archives and Documents Section, Recovery Bureau Secretariat. January 1931: Chief, Planning Section, Recovery Bureau Secretariat. April 1931: Chief, General Affairs Section, Recovery Bureau Secretariat. October 1931: Appointed Secretary, Home Ministry, and Secretary to the Home Minister. June 1932: Governor, Akita Prefecture. January 1936: Chief, Administrative Department, Kwantung Bureau. April 1936: Director-General, Kwantung Bureau. Through these two posts, he was involved with the relinquishing of Japan's extraterritorial rights in Manchūkuo. March 1938: Resiged as Director-General of the Kwantung Bureau and returned to Japan. After return to Japan, was involved with the founding of the North China Development and Central China Development companies. January 1939: Deputy Director, Cabinet Planning Board. January 1940: Resigned position at own request. July 1940: Appointed Secretary-General, State Council, Government of Manchūkuo. Held the post until the regime's collapse. September 1945: Arrested by the Soviet Army and interned in Siberia. July 1950: Transferred to the Fushun War Criminals Management Center. In July 1956, received a 20-year prison sentence from a special military tribunal convened by the Supreme People's Court, People's Republic of China. However, he was released on medical parole and returned to Japan later that month. January 1958: Passed away. Of direct related interest is Takebe Rokuzō nikki [The diaries of Takebe Rokuzō], eds.
