Explanation
Born 1864. From Kagoshima Prefecture. 1890: Graduated from Jurisprudence Department (British Law), College of Law, Tokyo Imperial University. Later that year, receives probationary appointment to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in its Translation Bureau. Subsequent posts included Translator, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Deputy Consul, Zhifu Consulate; 3rd Secretary, Legation to Great Britain; 1st Consul, Busan Consulate; and Councilor, Legation to Great Britain. 1908: Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to Qing China. 1916: Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to Italy. January through August 1919: Traveled to Paris as part of Japan's delegation to the Paris Peace Conference. 1921: Director, Information Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. September 1922: Appointed Governor of Kwantung. September 1923: Appointed Foreign Minister. January 1924: Resigned. April 1924: Passed away.
