    • [Material Contents]Records of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are a core of the historical records of DRO. The records of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs can provide important information to study Japanese diplomacy during the Meiji, Taisho or the first half of the Showa era. DRO stores and compiles historical records on diplomatic activities, including return telegrams and communications with diplomatic establishments abroad, for about 80 years from the establishment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the end of the Second World War, in about 48,000 files as the records of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Part of the historical records was lost due to fires, air raids during Pacific War or incineration during the end of the war, and consequently, part of the records of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is missing.
