Accoraing to the figures of the Japanese Federation of Cotton Textile Manufactures Japan’s exports of cotton cloth in the first eight months of this year were slightly larger than Britain’s. Britain had held the lead over all other countries for a century and more! As recently as 1929 British manufacturecs exported almost three yaras to every yeard exported by Japanese mills. In the short space of four years Japan has forged ahead. Needless to say. the toxtile business is of immense importance in the economy of the United States.
