2.1. Browsing guide for the PDF viewer

PDF Viewer screen On this screen, you can find plug-ins, as well as buttons for "x" "Thumbnail," "Document information," "Full-screen," and "Print/Download', as well as left (◀) and right (▶) triangular arrow buttons.

※Regarding the display items on the upper part of the PDF viewer screen, please refer to "2. Content Browsing Guide."

Plug-ins (area circled in red ①) are displayed in the PDF viewer. With plug-ins, you can perform such tasks as searching within documents in the PDF file, zooming in and zooming out, and so forth.

With the left menu (area circled in red ②), you can get a thumbnail view of the PDF, display document information, select a full-screen view, and print and download the PDF.

・x button:To hide the left menu, click on the "x" button at the upper part of the left menu. To display it again, click on the "=" button.

・Thumbnail:Displays a thumbnail of the PDF. For details, please refer to "2.1.1. About thumbnails in the PDF viewer."

・Details:Displays information and catalogue information about the PDF you are browsing. For details, please refer to "2.1.2. About Details in the PDF viewer."

・Full Screen:Presents a full-screen display of the PDF you are browsing. For details, please refer to "2.1.3. About PDF viewer Full Screen display."

・Print/Download:Allows you to print and download the PDF. For details, please refer to "2.1.4. About downloading and printing in the PDF viewer."

・Triangular arrow "◀" (area circled red ③):Click to display the PDF one before the image you are browsing.

・Triangular arrow "▶" (area circled red ④):Click to display the PDF one after the image you are browsing.

2.1.1. About thumbnails in the PDF viewer

Clicking the "Thumbnail" button on the left menu displays a thumbnail of the PDF of the record you are browsing.

Selecting the thumbnail will display the selected PDF in the viewer.

To close the thumbnail, click on the "Thumbnail" button again on the left menu.

2.1.2. About Details in the PDF viewer

Document information screen in the PDF viewer On this screen you can find content and catalogue information.

Clicking on the "Details" on the left menu displays information about document.

・Content:Displays the size (file volume) and the content URI.

Note that the content URI refers to a URI that uniquely identifies that content.

・Catalog:Displays the Item title, layer, reference code, call number at the holding institution, and citation examples for articles and the like.

To close the catalogue information, click on the "Document information" button again on the left menu.

2.1.3. About PDF viewer Full Screen display

Full-screen view in the PDF viewer Here you can see that the PDF you are browsing is displayed in full-screen.

Clicking the "Full Screen" button on the left menu will show the PDF in full-screen display.

To end full-screen display, either click on the "Close" button at the upper right or tap the "Esc" key on your keyboard.

2.1.4. About downloading and printing in the PDF viewer

Print/Download screen in the PDF viewer On this screen, you will find the number of files selected, a "Format" pull-down menu, checkboxes for each PDF, a field for entering pages, and buttons for "Select," "Download," "Print," and "Clear."

Clicking on the "Print/Download" button on the left menu displays PDF content download screen.

・X/Y files selected (area circled in red ①):Displays how many of the PDF files you are browsing are currently selected.

・Format (area circled in red ②):With regard to PDF download formats, you can select PDF or JPEG from the pull-down menu. Note that if you have downloaded in JPEG format, all pages of the PDF will be downloaded as JPEG files.

・Checkbox (area circled in red ③):Allows you to select the PDF you want to download or print.

・Enter and select pages (area circled in red ④):Using the numbers displayed on the upper left of each thumbnail, you can enter a range for the PDFs you want to select. After you have entered the numbers, click on the "Select" button to check them off.

・Download:You can download the displayed content in .zip format by selecting the file format (area circled in red ②), checking off the content (area circled in red ③), and clicking the the "Download" button. All pages will be downloaded regardless of whether you chose PDF or JPEG format.

※The name of the downloaded .zip file will be formatted as a "[reference code].zip," and the names of the files within will be "[name of the content].file extension." (Files downloaded in JPEG format will be formatted as "[name of the content]_[4-digit serial number].file extension."

・Print:Allows you to print the content you selected. Clicking the Print button displays the For Print preview screen; you can then Print using your browser's print function.

・Clear:Allows you to deselect all of the checkboxes you have checked off.

To close the Print/Download screen, click on the "Print/Download button" again on the left menu.
