1.5.1. About the Search Results List

A list of search results is displayed on the right side of the screen (circled in red).

Upper section of the Search result list screen In this section, you can find the buttons for "Search by specifying dictionary - alternative spelling," "For Print page," "Return to Search screen," "Select/deselect all on the current page," "Select/deselect all search results," and "Export selected document to CSV"; Search conditions and the number of search results; and pull-down menus for "Number displayed," "Display order," and "Display style."

Items ① through ⑪ are displayed on the upper part of the search results list.

① Dictionary Search:The keyword entered as a search condition is displayed here if it has been registered in the dictionary. For details, please refer to "1.5.2. About Search by Specifying Dictionary - Alternative Spelling."

② For Print:Displays the search results in a print-friendly layout.

Clicking the For Print page button displays the screen shown below. Clicking the Print button on the upper right displays the For Print preview screen; you can then Print using your browser's print function. You can print documents using as the number of matches shown on the Search Result list (20/50/100/200 matches) as the maximum.

③ Return to Search:Click this to return to which of the "Advanced Search," "Term Details Search," or "Alphabetical Index Search" from which you performed your search. In this instance, it returns retaining the search conditions you entered.

④ Search conditions:Displays the selected search conditions.

⑤ Select/Deselect All on This Page:Select/deselect all of the documents on the page currently displayed. To make selections, put checks in checkboxes in the "CSV export" column.

⑥ Select/Deselect All Search Results:Select/deselect all the documents in the search results.

⑦ Export Selected Records(CSV):Click this to export the selected documents in CSV format. Up to 5,000 documents can be exported in CSV format at a time. When more than 5,000 documents have been selected, only the first 5,000 will be exported. If the button is clicked without selecting any documents, no documents will be exported to CSV format; it is necessary to select at least one document.

⑧ Matching results XX Display YY to ZZ:Displays the total number of search results and the number of documents being displayed on the screen.

⑨ Display:You can select the number of search results to be displayed per page from the pull-down menu. You can select from "20," "50," "100," and "200" as the number of documents to be displayed. The default value is 20 documents.

⑩ Sort:You can select the sort the order in which the search results are displayed from the pull-down menu.

Not specified Results will be displayed without the order being specified.
Reference code Displays in order of reference code.
Creation date (ascending) Display in ascending order of creation dates.
Creation date (descending) Display in descending order of creation dates.
Holding institution Displays in order of holding institutions.

⑪ Style:You can select the display style from the pull-down menu.

Simple

Displays basic information about the documents.

The default condition is for documents to be displayed in this style.

Advanced Displays detailed information about the documents.
Thumbnail Displays thumbnails of the documents.

As shown below, selecting "Thumbnail" as the display style displays a thumbnail image of the record's content along with a checkbox, catalogue type, and title.

Click on the checkbox if you wish to include it in a CSV export.

Lower section of the search result list screen In this section, you can find "CSV Export" checkboxes and the number. Also, if there is summary information and content from each catalogue, a "Browse" button will also be displayed.

Items ⑫ through ⑮ are displayed on the bottom part of the search results list.

⑫ CSV Export:Displays items to be exported in CSV format. Put a check in the checkbox for CSV export. You can then click on "Export selected records in CSV format" to export the CSV file.

⑬ NO.:Displays the number in the sequence of documents shown on the screen.

⑭ Description:Displays a summary of the catalogue information, such as the title of the record. Click on the title of the record to display detailed information For details, please refer to "1.6. Catalogue details screen."

Summary information displays the catalogue type, title, and layered series information for the record, along with the following details for each catalogue type.

⑮ Images:If content of this sort is present in the record, a "Browse" button will be displayed. Click on the "Browse" button to browse the content on the viewer screen. For details, please refer to "2. Content Browsing Guide."

If search results fill more than one page, they will be displayed with page numbers on the bottom part of the screen. A description of how to switch among pages is given below.

Numbers You can jump to a specific page by clicking its number.

1.5.2. About Search by Specifying Dictionary - Alternative Spelling

If the keyword specified in the search conditions matches a term registered in the dictionary, a "Search by specifying dictionary - alternative spelling" button is displayed. A list of basic words, synonyms, related words, and alternative spellings will be displayed; from the list, you can select words to perform a search. You can also specify OR or AND as operators.

Search by specifying dictionary - alternative spelling screen On this screen you will find a search term checkbox; an "Operator" pull-down menu; checkboxes and lists for basic words, synonyms, related terms, and alternative spellings; and the "Search by specifying dictionary - alternative spelling" button.

・Search word (circled in red):Displays search word searched in dictionary search. Check off when doing a search.

・Basic Term:Sets the basic word. You can select/deselect all of the basic words displayed by checking off "Basic word."

・Synonym(s):Sets synonyms. You can select/deselect all of the synonyms displayed by checking off "Synonym."

・Related Term(s):Sets related words. You can select/deselect all of the related words displayed by checking off "Related words."

・Spelling Variant(s):Sets alternative spellings. You can select/deselect all of the alternative spellings displayed by checking off "Alternative spelling."

1.5.3. About Layered Series Searches

Search result list screen On upper left section of this screen, you will find the "Series hierachy."

Series layers are displayed on the right side of the screen (circled in red).

Series layers presents a list of series in a hierarchical view.

As shown below, click on the plus (+) button to the right of a series to display a list of the series contained below it. Click on the minus (-) button to hide the list of series.

Series hierachy with minus (-) buttons on series displayed Clicking the plus (+) button to the right of a series displays subordinate series and changes the plus (+) button to a minus (-) button.

Click on the title links for each series within the series layers to display the catalogue information for that series. Regarding catalogue information, please refer to “1.6.1. About the Series details screen”.

Series titles in the series hierarchy Here you can see that the title of each series is linked to the catalogue information for that series.

To hide the series layers display, as shown below, click on the triangular arrow (◀) at the boundary between the series layers and the search result list.」 To display them again, click again on the triangular arrow (▶).

You can select a series by clicking on the checkbox to the left of the series, as shown below. Clicking on the search button with a series having been selected will display the search result list screen for the documents in the catalogue tied to the series in question.

1.5.4. About Refined Searches

Search result list screen A "Refine Search" option can be found at the lower left.

Refined searches are displayed on the left side of the screen (circled in red).

Refine Search screen Here you will find the search box, add (plus, "+") and remove (minus, "-") buttons for each search condition, checkboxes, and the "Search" button.。

・Keyword:Specify a keyword for performing a refined search of the documents. Keywords can be entered that are up to 85 full-width characters long (or up to 256 half-width alphanumeric characters).

・Description Type:Select the catalogue type for the refined search.

・Type:Select the type of documents for the refined search.

・Language:Select the languages for the refined search.

・Holding Institution:Select the holding institution or institutions for the refined search.

・Classification Level:Select the secrecy level of the documents for the refined search.

・Period:Select the date/era of the documents for the refined search. Clicking on the plus (+) button to the right of each date/era will display a list of each year contained below it.

To hide the refined search, as shown below, click on the triangular arrow (◀) at the boundary between the refined search and the search result list. To display them again, click again on the triangular arrow (▶).
